Two Paddocks are producers of fine Pinot Noir and Riesling from their four organic, BioGro certified vineyards in Central Otago.
In 1993, actor Sam Neill purchased a vineyard in the Gibbston Valley, called The First Paddock. The aim was to grow a small amount of his favourite grape, Pinot Noir, for friends and family. Sam's good friend bought the paddock next door and so “Two Paddocks” was born. 1993 was early days in the life of modern Central Otago winegrowing – it was a leap of faith planting grapes back then. Now the region is 80% planted in Pinot Noir.
Two Paddocks is now four small vineyards in the Gibbston and Alexandra (Earnscleugh) and most recently Bannockburn, sub-regions of Central Otago. Sustainably accredited, the vineyards are grown within a holistic farming model, which aims to naturally recycle all farm animal and vine by-products back into composts and nutrient rich soil enhancers that are then applied back to the vineyards.
