From the winemaker…
The Prophet’s Rock Dry Riesling comes from the Rocky Point vineyard, where there is a tiny one-hectare parcel growing on schist rock soil. Riesling holds a special place in our hearts and gets a lot of attention in the vineyard and winery. Wild yeast ferment in old oak barrels & cellared before release. Complex, floral & citrus aromas with great freshness, spice & underlying minerality.

It gets the same meticulous treatment in the vineyard as our top Pinot Noir, and our yields are extremely low, creating a concentrated expression of our unique site. Averaging only 300 cases per vintage, our Dry Riesling is a rare find. The vinification is heavily influenced by Paul’s time in Alsace, where use of wild yeast, multiple small vessels and long ageing are the norm.
After lengthy slow ferments, the various components are aged on their yeast lees before bottling. The wine is cellared for at least two years before release. This wine has been extremely well-reviewed since the first release in 2006.
This wine will reward collectors over the next 7+ years from vintage.
519 cases were made.
Attractive crushed stones, grapefruit and lemon peel with some light, lees-derived, pastry-like notes, too. The palate has impressively fresh and lively flavors with bright peaches and lemons holding long and smooth. Layered yet piercing textural style here. Drink now.
