Pinot Noir Sampler

Pinot Noir is the most fickle of grapes…and the second most planted grape in New Zealand.  It is predominantly grown in the cooler southerly regions of Wairarapa, Marlborough, North Canterbury and Central Otago.

Aromas of toasty oak and fresh wild blackberry fruit are lifted in the glass, with a lingering intensity.  A complex, savoury, mouth filling and soft wine with spicy cherries, plums and sweet berries. The tannins are fine boned, yet persistent.

Ata Rangi Crimson Pinot Noir 2018

Crimson is a selection of fruit from younger parcels of vines from our various vineyards on the Martinborough Terrace. In their youth, vines tend to be more fruit expressive, gaining more complexity with time. Now, Crimson is developing more depth of flavour, with a mix of vines aged from 5 to 20 years.

Pinot Noir is the most fickle of grapes…and the second most planted grape in New Zealand.  It is predominantly grown in the cooler southerly regions of Wairarapa, Marlborough, North Canterbury and Central Otago.

The huge diversity in climates and soils enables a wide range of styles. Common to all, however, is structure and elegance overlaid by power and fruit-driven intensity.

Here is a selection of different styles of Pinot Noir from three regions, we hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

It’s staggering how quickly New Zealand has built a reputation for quality Pinot Noir considering the first commercial bottling of Pinot Noir in the country was in 1987.
