Black Estate Home Pinot Noir 2017

Fire brick hue. Compelling fresh and vibrant aromas of wild forest berry’s, wild rose petal, and humid earth. Dense mouth coating tannins that are tightly wound and gradually melt to reveal rich berry fruits, red current , and humus. The balance gives a clear impression of the highly mineralised sedimentary clay soils of the Home Vineyard. Drink now to 2028.

Cameron Douglas MS  95  A complex, tense and interesting bouquet of Pinot Noir with aromas of minerals and dark berries, organic crushed stone and preserved roses, raspberry and plum, cherry and red apple skin. Equally complex on the palate with flavours that mirror the nose, fine chalky tannins and medium+ acidity. A lengthy fine finish. While still youthful with a developing complexity as the wine opens up in glass this Pinot will draw the attention of many fans of the variety with its gentle savoury core and lengthy harmonious finish.

James Suckling  94  This has a very focused and dialed-in feel with a wealth of brambly and sappy aromas, as well as dried red flowers across blueberries and cherries. The palate has a long, succulent and smoothly polished tannin texture. Stony resolve. Drink or hold.

Why we like it…

We love North Canterbury wine and these guys make some of the best! A thoughtfully made wine with great attention to detail.

Decant before serving – this wine is unfiltered and unfined.
