“Where the soil is rich & the food is plentiful”

Established in 1984, the land belonging to Te Kairanga was originally owned by the founding father of Martinborough, John Martin. His cottage is now the TK cellar door.

Fun Fact – John Martin laid out the town of Martinborough in the shape of the Union Jack!

The vineyard is sustainably managed on an ancient riverbed. The river stones allow the land to drain freely and the Tararua Ranges provide shelter from harsh prevailing winds.

The focus has traditionally been on producing exceptional Pinot Noir, and more recently the vineyard has branched out to produce other early-ripening varieties such as Pinot Gris, Riesling and Chardonnay.
