From the winemaker…
Aromas of toasty oak and fresh wild blackberry fruit are lifted in the glass, with a lingering intensity. A complex, savoury, mouth filling and soft wine with spicy cherries, plums and sweet berries. The tannins are fine boned, yet persistent.
Working with local grape growers, Layline gives us the opportunity to make wines in the same high quality style as our Single Vineyard Butterworth Collection from various vineyards in the Martinborough Region.
Hand Harvested and left on skins for 15 to 20 days before aging in oak for 9 months. Complex aromas of oak, plum and red berry. On the palate, balanced acidity and fine boned tannins combine for a long velvety finish.
Serve at 16-18 degrees Celsius
Classic and complete, a bouquet with aromas of Martinborough silty mineral soils and red berry fruits of strawberry and old cherry – some fresh, some dried and maraschino. Complex and inviting. Flavours of red fruits and baking spices from oak, fine integrating tannins and medium+ ish acidity. Balanced, well made and ready to enjoy with food. 92 pts Cameron Douglas MS
Why we love it…
The label for the Layline range is based on the nautical protest flag! A delicious wine made with the same care and attention as the wines for the Butterworth Estate. Fantastically good value for money.
