Deepest crimson red. Brooding aromatically with notes of cassis, black olive, dried tobacco and the faintest hint of caramel. The wine has lovely focus on the palate with dark fruits framed by fine tannins to deliver a classical structure with an excellent future ahead.

Decanter 92 points – Pure and savoury, with a dense damson and dark berry core. Very accomplished and complex, with great acidity, this will age well. Drink 2020 through 2025.
Why we like it…

A merlot dominant blend (63%) grown in the Hawkes Bay Gimblett Gravels Vineyard – one of the most sun drenched climates in New Zealand. Hand harvested and matured in oak. Drinking beautifully now – keep it in the cellar for longer if you can…

  • Te Kahu means ‘the cloak’ in Māori – referring to the mist that cloaks the Tukituki Valley
